Don’t think I wasn’t going to wish you all a happy start to a fabulous holiday month! Just as a ~~small~~ HUGE reminder this ALSO marks the beginning of MY “meme month”* and you officially have 21 shopping days left until till my birthday!

This was taken last month during Diana and Mike’s christmas card shoot.

*Meme Month is our family’s selfish tradition of dragging one’s birthday celebrations out for an entire month (or longer). This being a time where it’s all about me, me = meme. :)

I wrote this on 12/13/06. It was titled 'Take that bite'. I'm not sure what I was going through at the time, but I like it.

Some would argue that the anticipation for the first bite is more satisfying than the anticipation of the last bite. The last bite means you’ve been consuming all the goodness and you’re just about to finish it off. To me, that is the definition of delectable. In life we live each day hanging off a side of building. We anticipate and we finish. Not that all or any of these finishes can be described as great or even as much as mediocre, but we do finish and if, well, if we don’t, then we’ve just let our fingers one by one slip off that ever so comforting edge felt underneath our sweaty grasp. It’s like this, you take what you’ve got and you put it all in a nice secure place where it’s out of the eagle’s eye view and far beyond a hound dog’s sniff and you think, well that’s living man, this is the life. Why do we think this? Why do we ever so naively believe that we are ever not hanging off a side of building? Because my friend, we definitely are. There is no fairytale on this planet that can prove otherwise because even when Sleeping Beauty fell asleep she wasn’t 100% sure she would awake and you sure as hell know that Snow White wasn’t all that positive that the seven dwarves would protect her from all the bad in the world. We anticipate for joy or brilliance or the security in something, whatever it may be, and then when it happens you have to realize that it’s not as if you were ever going to possess that joy or brilliance or security forever, all these things are fluid. So when you think about that first bite or that last bite think this, no matter how much you think or plan or anticipate how good something will be, it’s the part where your actually in it, when your fork deep into that piece of chocolate cake and your shit deep into this beautiful disaster called life that you really get what’s good. Anticipating, waiting and preparing will get you somewhere but it’s never going to get you any farther away from hanging off the side of the building.

I thought for a second the sparkly drape in the upper right corner was a curtain, but then I realized it was probably a gown. I still think those would be FANTASTIC curtains.
